Foundation Degrees are available in many, but not all occupational areas. There are no set entry requirements for a Foundation Degree as the university or college offering the course will decide if the person qualified. Experience could be as important as educational qualifications.
Timescales
Entry to Foundation Degrees is normally based on academic years so a September start is likely. The duration of the course will depend on how the course is delivered – further details should be sought from the contacts in the next steps section.

The employer must be committed to support their employee in their learning.

Costs
There will be a cost for undergoing a Foundation Degree. What this cost is will depend on the institution offering the Foundation Degree. the extent to which this cost falls on the employee and employer is a matter for discussion between them.

Progression Routes
Clearly Foundation Degrees are aimed at enhancing work performance and professional development with the students current employment. As far as learning is concerned progression could be to higher level NVQs at Level 4 or 5 or onto a full degree.
