Bonett's Estate Agents
Paul Cooney

Paul started his association with Bonett's nearly 4 years ago when he spent a week in the Hove office as his year 10 work experience while at Cardinal Newman School. It was a good week where Paul was able to make a good impression on his future employer. Paul, like many of his contemporaries went into the 6th Form at 16. By Easter of his first year Paul knew that he was not on the right path. He wanted to get out into the world and start earning. Backed by the support and advice of the careers adviser at Cardinal Newman he headed back to Bonett's to see if there were any job opportunities.

Bonett's, like most employers needed to be convinced that Paul would add something to their business - so at Paul's suggestion he worked for a week for free to show Bonett's what he could do. Once again he managed to impress and he was offered a part-time post as a trainee negotiator. Paul and his employer then signed him up for the apprenticeship in Residential Estate Agency which has allowed Paul to achieve his NVQ 2 and has now moved onto NVQ level 3. He is now 19, working full time and has established himself in the business.

Paul Bonett, Managing Director says of Paul 'he is an example of a young person who has benefited from employers' involvement in school activities - he came to us with a good attitude and common sense, he's worked hard and has become an asset to our business'.

Paul reflects on his experience over the last 4 years 'I've been very lucky, I've got a great job and the apprenticeship has helped me to learn and progress quickly in my work. Mr Bonett and all my colleagues have given me great support'.
